GENERAL QUESTIONS

WHY MARINERS CHURCH SOUTH COUNTY?

The decision to establish Mariners Church South County is fueled by two things: a distinct calling from God to pursue more ambitious, Jesus-centered goals; and God’s provision of the right timing and resources. This new, joint endeavor will enable us to serve the communities of South Orange County in new and bigger ways. In addition to being a home for people to encounter Jesus, Mariners Church South County will become a hub to equip and send out church leaders to transform our county. Currently, Mariners is equipping leaders to launch two new churches: one reaching the new community of Rancho Mission Viejo and another serving a new location in or near Mission Viejo (in the area north of Crown Valley Parkway and south of El Toro Road).

WHEN IS THE LAUNCH OF MARINERS CHURCH SOUTH COUNTY?

Mariners Church South County will hold its inaugural worship services on Saturday, September 8 at 5P and Sunday, September 9 at 8:30A, 10A and 11A. Expect this weekend to be a big celebration of what God has done and where He is leading us!

ARE THE MARINERS MISSION VIEJO AND OCEAN HILLS COMMUNITIES SIMILAR?

Our communities share Mariners’ values to teach God’s Word, be God’s loving family, recognize that every believer is a minister with a ministry, be innovative in our ministry and relevant in our community, and be contagious in sharing Jesus Christ. Our communities are already geographically intertwined: Mariners Mission Viejo and Mariners Ocean Hills comprise people from virtually every city in South Orange County. By resourcing the combined gifts God has given and the strength built over the years at Mariners Mariners Mission Viejo and Mariners Ocean Hills, we will take new ground, and amplify the impact of God’s work in the South Orange County region: equipping leaders and planting churches where more people can encounter Jesus and experience the transformational healing only He can bring.

SUNDAY EXPERIENCE

WHAT WILL SUNDAYS BE LIKE AT MARINERS CHURCH SOUTH COUNTY?

The goal of our worship services is always to provide an environment for people to encounter Jesus and connect with one another. Jeff Maguire and Jeff Pries will be the principal teachers of this new community at Mariners Church South County. We’ll continue to offer dynamic worship teams, led by Aaron Flores and Danica Parker. And, we’ll carry on in building a safe place where people can ask questions and take courageous next steps.

WHAT TIME WILL WEEKEND SERVICES BE HELD? Mariners South County will offer four services to ensure we continue to be a church that is available to the community and has room for you to invite guests: Saturdays at 5P and Sundays at 8:30A | 10A | 11:30A

HOW DOES THIS IMPACT THE MINISTRIES I LOVE AT OUR CHURCH?

Mariners Church South County will continue to offer the ministries that are core to who we are. Rooted, Life Groups for adults and students, studies for men and women, Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS), Financial Peace University, amazing kids programs, and Marriage & Family resources will remain part of our church culture. Through Outreach, we will continue to build upon existing partnerships and look for new opportunities to serve our county and the world. And we will continue to celebrate and serve together through treasured traditions like the Annual Tree Lighting and ServeDay.

FAMILIES

WILL MARINERS CHURCH SOUTH COUNTY OFFER PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AND STUDENTS?

Yes! You can expect the same high standard of programming, instruction, and care for children and students. Programs for infant through fifth grade and Junior High students (sixth through eighth grade) will be available during weekend services. Programs for High School students will also continue to be offered on Thursdays evenings. The new campus affords bigger and more diverse space for these ministries to thrive. Contact Jeff Bachman for further information or questions.

IS THE CAMPUS A SAFE PLACE FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES?

Safety remains a top priority at Mariners Church. Mariners Church South County will utilize the same check-in/check-out system currently being used to provide for the safety of our children. Additionally, our Safety Team will continue to provide dedicated coverage to ensure our Mariners Kids areas remain secure.

CHURCH PLANTS

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CHURCH THAT PLANTS CHURCHES?

Mariners Mission Viejo exists today because it were planted by another church (Mariners Church Irvine). Since its founding in 2009, Mariners Mission Viejo has grown to become a church home to people in virtually every South County city. At the core of our DNA is the belief in reaching more people throughout the county, and now we will step courageously into that calling to equip leaders to plant new churches.

WHERE WILL THE CHURCH PLANTS BE LOCATED? WHO WILL LEAD THEM?

Currently, we are already equipping leaders to initiate two new church-plants: one reaching the new community of Rancho Mission Viejo (launching September 23 at San Juan Hills High School) that will be led by Cole Beshore, and another serving a new location in or around Mission Viejo (in the area north of Crown Valley Parkway and south of El Toro Road) led by Erin Kerr launching within six to eight months.

HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE CURRENT CHURCH PLANTS?

A church isn’t the building, it’s the people. Our prayer is that 250 will people make a 6-12 month commitment to being part of the next season of Mariners Church in South County by praying, serving, attending and giving. To learn more or to join the interest list, contact Erin Kerr for the Mission Viejo area church or Cole Beshore, for Mariners Ranch Church.
